This years Tootsie Roll Fund Drive runs from April 22-25, 2007! Tootsie Roll Application now available Be sure to carefully read the Annual Book for great information to ensure your councils success! This year the book is available to everyone on line. In previous years books sometimes got lost or were not available to the Knight who needed the information, having the book on line gives you what you need when you need it. Here are some great ideas from the councils, please be sure to include your Evaluation Form when you turn in your money for the 2004 Drive so we all can learn from your success! St Elizabeth Ann Seton Council: Using e-mail to correspond with captains proved very effective. We announced KOVAR collection dates early in the Council Newsletter. This enabled everyone to make themselves available during the collection weekend.
Mother Teresa of Calcutta Council: You never print anything from this Council! Wrong, we just did. Seriously, if you don’t share your ideas we cannot print them. If your idea is not printed it most likely means it is a great idea that many councils are using. Be proud you are in the main stream! The Mother Teresa of Calcutta Council did say they would make goal +15% in 2004. Now that is noteworthy! Bernard Quinn Council: Monthly 50/50 Good of the Order, Fund Raiser selling snacks at “Annual Free Throw Finals” at Richmond. KOVAR at Christmas at Annual Christmas Party. Fr. Widmer Council: Published CFC/United Way appeal information in newsletter and church bulletin from Aug through Oct. St. Mary of Sorrows Council: New site captains did great job recruiting staff for their sites. More experienced site captains tended to procrastinate because they “knew” they had plenty of time. Do not be afraid of new guys…their enthusiasm overcomes a lot of “experience”. Holy Family Council: Obtained a matching donation (up to $1,000) from Wal-Mart. Moved to new locations Shoppers Food Warehouse and Blockbuster with excellent results. Had town of Leesburg pass a resolution for KOVAR and solicited from local business with the resolution in hand. This resulted in a few donations of $100-$300. Holy Spirit Council: Collected at a “KOVAR site of the month” at different sites for one day each month throughout the year. Sacred Heart Council: Organized early and visited collection sites to explain the process to the storeowners and managers. Involved additional Knights to personally visit corporations and local business for donations. John J Cempre Council: Held a raffle for four Redskin tickets plus a parking pass in Nov and Dec. They raised $800. Check with your District Deputy is see if your district is going to order Tootsie Rolls as a district to save money on shipping no later than the Jan meeting. |
